Catechist Formation - Level 1 (ages 3-6)

Description

This 96-hour course provides the training required to achieve certification by the National Association of the Catechesis of the Good Shepherd for catechesis of 3-6 year-olds. After the first 64 hours (8 days) of the course through July, participants will have enough training to begin working with children in their first year of catechesis.

Leader

Janette Vincent, Head Catechist for the Greater Sacramento Atrium, guides a team of seven lead catechists and ten assistant catechists, serving children from 24 different parishes in six counties. She is certified by the National Association of the Catechesis of the Good Shepherd, and has led over 2,700 hours of catechesis with 3-12 year olds since 2004. Janette is married with three homeschooled children. She practiced medicine as a family physician before becoming an at-home mother.

 

Location

The Greater Sacramento Atrium in Elverta is located just north of Natomas, near Sacramento International Airport. Address, map and directions will be sent to enrollees.

 

Tuition

The following tuition amounts are for catechists from parishes within the Diocese of Sacramento. Applicants who are not from parishes in the Diocese of Sacramento, please contact us for tuition amounts.

  • Payment 1: $200 if received in full by April 8, 2017 at 4:00PM; $300 if received by April 19, 2017 at 4:00PM.
  • Payment 2: $200 if received in full by July 22, 2017 at 4:00PM; $300 if received by August 3, 2017 at 4:00 PM (Participants making their second payment after this date are welcome to resume their training after we receive their second payment.)

Simple lunches included during all-day sessions. Because Cenacle is a 501(c)(3) exempt nonprofit organization, your tuition may be tax deductible. 

In addition to the tuition costs, we recommend that trainees expect to pay a total of up to $50 for books. Click here for the titles. These are available new from the National Association for the Catechesis of the Good Shepherd, or used copies are available through other online sellers. Trainees can either purchase the books themselves to begin reading before the training begins, or participate in a group order after the training begins, to save on shipping costs and perhaps share copies with other trainees.

 

Financial Assistance - The financial assistance deadline for this training has passed

Limited financial assistance is available for applicants from within the Diocese of Sacramento. In fairness to all, be sure to submit your financial assistance application promptly, and please do not ask us to make special individual exceptions to this firm deadline.

Training space is limited. If the training overbooks, we will promptly return/refund payments to applicants who we cannot enroll. Conversely, if the training does not achieve minimum required enrollment, we will cancel the training and promptly return/refund payments.
