Catechist Training Financial Assistance

Thank you for your interest in building the Kingdom of God as a catechist. Catechesis of the Good Shepherd Greater Sacramento, a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization, has limited resources available to offer financial assistance for catechist formation. Thus, we prioritize applications based on the following criteria, in order of importance.

1. We award financial assistance only to applicants who religiously submit to every doctrine which either the Supreme Pontiff or the College of Bishops declare upon a matter of faith or morals, consistent with Canon 752 of the Code of Canon Law.

2. We award financial assistance only to applicants who are committed to serving as catechists in the Diocese of Sacramento. We prioritize those who appear most likely to have the greatest impact on the successful long-term development of CGS Atria, particularly in areas of the diocese where CGS is not yet available.

3. We prioritize applicants who have exhausted other potential sources of funding, such as the parish or school sponsoring the Atrium in which they intend to serve, and of course their own personal resources.

4. We prioritize applicants who prioritize the training over other competing demands on their time, and who therefore expect to miss as little of the training as possible. Financial assistance toward the second tuition payment is contingent upon regular attendance in the first half of the training.

In order for us to evaluate your application, please answer the following questions. Rest assured that we value concise answers more than lengthy answers. Please do not ask us to consider applications received after the due date listed in the announcement.
